Dr. Gary W. Stablein, MD, MBA

Dr. Stablein is the Medical Director at GWS Psychiatry. He uses an integrative approach to help you achieve improved mental health and well being. Dr. Stablein works with individuals who have depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, unresolved traumas, concentration difficulties, and impairments with academic and professional performance. His treatment approach is to build an emotionally safe setting, understand you, and work with you to build on your strengths. He uses a combination of health and wellness principles, psychodynamic techniques, mindfulness, and if indicated, medication management. Collaboratively, he will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan.

Dr. Stablein attended medical school at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine. He graduated with a dual degree from UCI Irvine School of Medicine’s MD/MBA Program. He completed his psychiatry residency at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Dr. Osmond Waheed, DO, MS

Dr. Waheed believes mental health is just as important as physical health. He takes an integrated whole-body approach that values physical fitness, healthy relationships, and positive thinking in addition to medication management. Dr. Waheed excels at working with patients struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and those struggling with co-occurring substance use disorders. 

Dr. Waheed grew up in California and attended UCLA before getting his master’s in health sciences and medical degree from Touro University, Nevada.  Dr. Waheed is board certified in adult psychiatry. He has a passion for improving psychiatric access to care and battling the negative stigma regarding mental health because mental health affects not only the individual but the family and our communities.

Dr. Doan Nguyen, MD

Dr. Nguyen provides compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adults. Fluent in both English and Vietnamese, Dr. Nguyen is passionate about helping patients feel heard, respected, and understood—both culturally and emotionally.

Dr. Nguyen treats a wide range of conditions, including schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other mood and thought disorders. His approach emphasizes collaboration, careful medication management, and respect for each patient’s unique background, values, and goals. Appointments are conducted in a supportive, non-judgmental environment where patients are encouraged to actively participate in their treatment.

Dr. Nguyen attended medical school at New York Medical College. He completed his psychiatry residency at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Nguyen is board certified in adult psychiatry. 

Shannon Shaffer, PMHNP-BC

Shannon Shaffer is a board certified PMHNP licensed in California and Connecticut who provides care for adults with a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, PTSD, OCD, and ADHD. She has experience with varied populations including active-duty military. Shannon offers personalized treatment that is evidence-based and empowers patients to take an active role in reaching their mental health goals.  She will work with you to consider the physical, social and environmental factors that contribute to your overall well-being.

Shannon earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 2016 from the University of Saint Joseph, where she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.  She proudly served for three years as an active-duty psychiatric nurse practitioner in the United States Air Force.

Administrative Staff

Jeff Crane, MHA

Jeff Crane serves as Director of Business Development. He oversees strategic growth through developing relationship-driven partnerships, referral networks, and operational initiatives that support the practice’s mission of delivering accessible, high-quality psychiatric care.

Jeff Crane earned a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University — a specialized master’s focused on healthcare leadership and administration. 

Pricilla Hicks

Pricilla Hicks is the Front Office Manager at GWS Psychiatry. She brings years of medical office experience and a thoughtful, patient-centered approach. She is attentive, organized, and committed to answering your call promptly while helping ensure a smooth and welcoming experience from your first contact.

Pricilla began her healthcare career in 2013 as a medical assistant, spending seven years in internal medicine where she advanced to back-office manager. She later transitioned into family medicine for two years before discovering her true calling in mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
